Day 1: Cusco – Vinicunca Mountain – Pomacanchi Lake
The day commences with the soft hum of Cusco’s morning. At 02:30 am, we set the wheels in motion, embarking on a 3-hour scenic drive that promises the first taste of the Andes’ grandeur. As the journey unfolds, the trailhead beckons. Here, our dedicated cook prepares a fresh and nourishing breakfast, setting the stage for the trek ahead.
By around 06:00 am, the path to Vinicunca calls. This 2-hour trek is more than just a walk; it’s a journey through a kaleidoscope of colors, where nature’s artistry unveils the mesmerizing hues of the Rainbow Mountain. Here, atop this natural canvas, you’ll have approximately 30 minutes to an hour, a luxury that allows for exploration, reflection, and countless memories captured in frames.
Yet, as the descent from Vinicunca begins, the day’s adventure is far from over. Awaiting at the base is not just a meal, but a culinary celebration, with a buffet lunch crafted by our expert cook. As the afternoon matures, we’ll guide you to the serene Pomacanchi Lagoon, where the evening unfolds with a camp set up by the water, exploration of its depths, and a dinner that promises stories under the starlit sky.

Day 2: Pomacanchi Lake – Waqrapukara – Huayqui – Cusco

The initial trek, starting from Punta Carretera, is a blend of nature’s artistry and history. For the first 2 hours, the path offers glimpses of high Andean lakes and vast landscapes. But it’s the descent to Waqrapukara that truly takes the breath away. This ancient ceremonial center, perched amidst gigantic rock formations, offers vistas that seem to bridge the gap between earth and sky.
The exploration of Waqrapukara is a journey through time, with its stone structures whispering tales of a bygone era. Yet, the descent offers its own set of wonders, with ancient rock paintings guiding the 2-hour path to Huayqui. As the day winds down, Pomacanchi Lagoon beckons once more, where a sumptuous lunch crafted by our cook awaits. With stories shared and memories made, the drive back to Cusco promises a return to comfort by approximately 6:00 pm, with the heart full and the spirit enriched.
