Huaynas Expeditions traces its roots to 2016 when Juvenal Duran Quispe, better known as Juve, decided to transform his passion for the Sacred Valley of Urubamba into a force for change. An experienced local guide with a Professional Tour Guide degree from Calca, Juve witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by workers in the travel industry, often stemming from delayed payments and inequitable working conditions. Determined to create a better environment for guides, cooks, and porters alike, he founded Huaynas Expeditions in Cusco, vowing to uphold the values of fairness and respect.

The name ‘Huaynas’ was selected to capture the fresh start and youthful energy that Juve envisioned for his company — a reflection of new beginnings and the promise of adventure inherent in the majestic Huayna Picchu Mountain, known as the ‘young mountain’ in Quechua.
