We will travel along an original Inca trail, pass by lagoons, mountains, landscapes with an impressive panoramic view, and with some luck we will also see the flight of the condors over the mountains.

We will visit an Inca cemetery and we will be able to camp under the stars and enjoy the night peace of the Andes. On our third day we will visit the citadel of Machu Picchu.

Departure & Return Location:

Hotel Cusco.

Departure Time:

Pick up from your hotel (6:00am – 6:30am).

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Tambomachay - Huchuy Qosqo.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco will be at 6:00 am to move on our transport to Tambomachay, which is located about 11km north of the city. This is the starting point of our adventure with a slight ascent, we will pass through Qoricocha (golden lagoon) and the Yanacocha lagoon (black lagoon) with a large concentration of wild birds. Upon reaching the highest point we will see an archaeological group of three Pre – Inca Chullpas, funerary constructions used to house Inca funerary bales. After this we will take a well – deserved rest to enjoy our lunch.

As we resume our trek to descend along the spectacular and capricious geological formation on the route to the archaeological complex of Huchuy Qosqo, through what was once part of the Inca Trail Network that connected the entire empire and you will witness of the wildness of the Andean geography.

We will arrive at Huchuy Qosqo at approximately 3:30 p.m. Huchuy Qosqo is at 11,800 feet high, on a large natural terrace elevated in the upper third of the peak above the town of Lamay. It has a magnificent view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the snowy peaks that are located at the other point. Here we will prepare the camp to spend the night under the stars of the southern Andean hemisphere.

Upon arrival we will also have a guided tour. Huchuyqosqo (small Cusco), received its name in the twentieth century although it does not resemble Cusco in the least, it was previously known as Kajya Qhawana (place where lightning falls).

Tonight we will have dinner at the camp.

Day 2: Huchuy Qosqo - Lamay - Aguas Calientes.

We will have a nutritious breakfast at 7:00 am in our Huchuy Qosqo camp, we will pack all the equipment and take pictures of the place with the sunrise.

You will have free time to explore on your own the terraces, temples, Huchuy Qosqo channels. The architecture has the peculiarity that the buildings were built on stone bases finely polished, with clay plaster in the best preserved parts, but the upper floors are made of adobe (mud bricks).

We will observe the stone channel that provides the water that runs through the place. At approximately 10:00 am we will begin the descent towards the Sacred Valley, arriving at the small Andean town of Lamay (3000m), our descent will last approximately 2 hours.

In the town of Lamay, our transport will be waiting for us to take us to the Ollantaytambo train station, and then take our train to the town of Aguas Calientes to spend the night in a hotel.
Dinner included.

Day 3: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco.

During the morning, at agreed time with the guide, we will walk for one hour to Machu Picchu. Once we arrive we will have to follow our guide, who for two hours will take us on a tour of Machu Picchu. Then you will have free time to explore on your own Machu Picchu to take fantastic photos that will give much to talk about among your friends.

After the excursion we will return to Aguas Calientes where you can have lunch. In the afternoon we will return to Ollantaytambo by train. Where we will board our private transport that will take us back to the city of Cusco.
