Our private transportation will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco or Sacred Valley and take you to our starting site in the community of Pichingoto, which is located near the Vilcanota river in the Maras – Urubamba province. Here you will be taught to ride a horse and have the opportunity to meet your horse.
Then we will start the trip ascending for about 45 minutes to the salt mines Salineras de Maras, where you can see more than 5000 salt pools.
We will visit this place and walk through the pools to witness how salt is obtained by hand, and then we will continue riding for another hour and 15 minutes, for 6 kilometers, until we reach the colonial settlement of Maras. One of the oldest churches in Latin America, known as San Francisco de Assis, was built in this settlement.
We will travel to the church, then have lunch before taking a walk through the streets of the city, where you can see the coats of arms of various Spanish colonial families carved into the stone doorways.
We will continue along the historic Inca grazing roads for almost 1 hour and 30 minutes, covering 7 kilometers, until we reach Moray, a key agricultural testing and development center.
We will go to this wonderful Inca laboratory to see its great architecture and some of the local items that are still made there.During our visit, we will enjoy the breathtaking views that surround us, including several snow-capped Andean mountains that cannot be seen anywhere else in Cusco.
After our tour to Moray, we will enjoy our box lunch before returning to Cusco or the Sacred Valley in our private transport.
