Choquequirao Trek 5 Days is a package designed for tourists that wish to have more time to visit the beautiful Inca city of Choquequirao and discover at a more relaxed pace one of the last residences of the Inca. This marvel of history is not only famous for its Inca constructions but is also complemented by natural beauty in perfect harmony.
The walk from Cachora to Choquequirao has a distance of approximately 30 kilometers, and During these five days of walking, we will enjoy impressive landscapes. Our groups are small; for this reason, our service is personalized.
Just like Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca and other Andean communities, Choquequirao is organized into two halves or neighborhoods: the upper, or Hanan, and the lower or Hurin.
The upper unites various buildings related to religion, temples, and fountains grouped around a plaza, grand terraces irrigated by a series of channels, and deposits (or Collcas) to store the products used to supply the local population. Half of the lower area accommodates significant well-preserved buildings built around a wide-open space.
We also offer Choquequirao Trek 5 Days with the finish at Villa de Loros – Tambobamba (Available only from May to October)

Choquequirao means “Cradle of Gold” in Quechua Inca’s language, although this is probably not its original name. It is another “Lost City of the Incas” rediscovered officially late in the 20th century. It is located high on a ridge spur almost 1750 meters above the raging glacier-fed Apurimac River and is surrounded by the towering Salkantay and Humantay snow-capped peaks. Excavations and restoration of the 1810 hectares site began in the 1990s, and it is estimated that only 30% of the site has been restored to date. Every day archeologists are finding new things.
At noon, our cook and horseman will bring us lunch to the Choquequirao Park, after lunch in the park we will have free time to relax and then continue exploring the lower part of Choquequirao, we will visit the lower part of Choquequirao, where we will find the terraces of Pacchayoc (not all of them go there), whose name corresponds to the extraordinary waterfall that is located in front and the middle of a deep ravine, the crystalline waters of the snowy Padreyoc whispers a beautiful symphony, coming from nature that seemed to want to enchant us with its infinite murmurs.
After visiting Pacchayoc, we will return to the Marampata campsite, where we will have our tea and dinner.

On the way, you may be able to see the flight of the Andean Condors again. You will also be able to see exuberant vegetation and a variety of flowers and orchids.
It will be a 6 hours hike. We will be passing through the same small settlements as on the way up. We will stop in Playa Rosalina. Here we will have lunch and continue to Chiquiska. Here we will spend the night at our campsite.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Tea, and Dinner.
Hiking time: 5 – 6 hours approx.
Hiking distance: 9 km / 5.59 miles.
Highest elevation: 2,950 m / 9,676 ft.
After breakfast, we start our last day hiking and leave the campsite as early as possible to avoid the midday sun, which is exhausting. It will be a 3-hour uphill hike until we arrive at the end of the expedition. Once we arrive, we will enjoy our last lunch and have a farewell time to our muleteers, cook, and tour guide, who were part of our team for a 5-day trek to Choquequirao.
After that, we’ll take our private transport back to Cusco for about 5 hours with some stop-offs on the way; one of them is a stop at Saywite, a unique place to see an amazing Incan monolith called the monolith of Saywite is a symbolic representation of our cosmos, where the Incas used a living granite rock to carve over 208 figures like geometric and zoomorphic figures, including reptiles, frogs, felines, irrigation channels, etc. The site is regarded as a center of religious worship for the Incan people, focusing on water. It’s a giant granite boulder whose circumference is about 11 m / 36.08 ft, 4 m / 13.12 ft in diameter, and about 2 m / 6.56 ft high.
