During the dry season (May – October), our 5-Day Choquequirao Trek follows its main path. However, due to safety concerns like landslides in the rainy season, we switch to a safer, classic route. Regardless of the season, you’ll always enjoy a complete 5-day experience.

Day 1: Embark from Cusco to Playa Rosalinas via Capuliyoc and Chiquiska
Join us bright and early at 04:00 am as we depart from Cusco. Our comfortable transport will take you on a scenic 4.5-hour drive to Capuliyoc. Here, our dedicated team of horsemen and well-trained horses await, ready to carry your gear for the next five days. We’ve got you covered – each guest can offload up to 6 kg of their gear onto our horses.
Our first day’s trek starts from Capuliyoc, descending for 3 hours to Chiquiska, where a delightful lunch spread awaits. The route promises awe-inspiring views of the majestic Apurimac Canyon. After lunch, we’ll continue our descent for another hour to reach Playa Rosalinas.
As the day winds down, relax while our team sets up your camp. Enjoy our special tea time featuring popcorn, coca tea, and other treats. After a sumptuous dinner, rest up in our spacious 4-season tents.

Day 2: Ascend from Playa Rosalinas to Marampata
Wake up refreshed with our special coca tea, followed by a hearty breakfast. Brace yourself for an exhilarating day ahead. Our hike to Choquequirao commences with the crossing of a 100m pedestrian bridge. After ascending for 3 hours, we’ll reach the serene Santa Rosa, a perfect spot to catch your breath and rejuvenate.
Post Santa Rosa, our journey will lead us to a refreshing orchard where you can cool off with crystal-clear mountain waters. Another 2 hours of hiking, and we’ll be at Marampata, where a scrumptious lunch spread awaits.
Spend your afternoon unwinding, stretching, and soaking in the breathtaking surroundings. As the sun sets, we’ll gather for a delightful dinner, prepping for another exciting day ahead.

In compliance with the new regulations established in Choquequirao, camping on the Choquequirao terraces has been prohibited since 2022. We are committed to respecting these rules to preserve the site’s heritage. While some operators may still advertise camping on the terraces, be advised that this goes against the official guidelines. To ensure an authentic and respectful experience, we have chosen Marampata, a picturesque location close to Choquequirao, as our official camping site. We strive to provide you with a memorable experience while upholding the integrity of this magnificent site.
Day 3: Delve into the Mysteries of Choquequirao
Start your day with a wholesome breakfast, gearing up to explore the wonders of the majestic Inca site, Choquequirao. Our knowledgeable guides will lead the way, sharing insights into the history and architecture of this colossal Inca marvel.
Midday, we’ll settle for a picnic lunch, giving you time to relax and soak in the ambiance. One highlight not to miss is the iconic white stone llamas, intricately carved into the mountainside.
As the day winds down, we’ll make our way back to our Marampata base. A sumptuous dinner awaits, followed by a peaceful night under the starry sky.

Day 4: From Marampata to the Serene Hacienda San Ignacio
Post an early breakfast, we’ll set our sights on Hacienda de San Ignacio. Our route will first take us towards Choquequirao, followed by a descent to the shimmering shores of the Apurimac River, ending at Playa San Ignacio.
Our next ascent to Hacienda de San Ignacio promises panoramic views of the Apurimac Canyon. Upon reaching, our culinary team will have a delectable lunch ready for you. The afternoon promises a treat – a short hike to the refreshing Waterfall of San Ignacio.
As evening dawns, join us for a special “happy hour” before indulging in a delightful dinner at our base camp.

Day 5: Concluding our Journey from San Ignacio to Cusco

At Saywite, marvel at the intricate rock monolith boasting over two hundred carvings, showcasing the Inca’s architectural genius. After a guided exploration, we’ll settle for our farewell lunch.
Our journey culminates with a comfortable 4-hour drive back to Cusco. We’ll ensure you’re safely dropped off at your hotel, taking with you memories of an unforgettable trekking experience.
