For many Peruvians, Choquequirao is a treasure to be discovered. It is a citadel built by the Incas and located in the Apurímac canyon, in an elevated and strategic area (in fact, it was one of the last enclosures of the Inca resistance).
Currently, to get here you need several days of walking. Hard, by the way, but they are a delight for any lover of adventure and nature. You have to descend to the Apurimac River, cross it and ascend again. Arriving at the citadel is quite an achievement, but it is worth it.
